The tanksuit made its first appearance in July 1943 as replacement of the previously used assortment of uniforms and oilskin clothing worn by tank crew. They are known as Tank Suits or Pixie Suits and had a detachable hood. The suits were made to fit loosely for comfort in the confines of a tank. Battledress was worn underneath when it was cold or just a shirt with shorts could be worn underneath when it was warm.
This Tank-Suit in good used condition, shows normal traces of usage. The suit is complete with its hood, the integral braces, all snap studs which are marked Newey and its label maker marked A. Whyman Ltd and dated 1944 with a good size 3.
Tank-Suits in this size, dated 1944 and complete are very hard to find!
