This is a nice Royal Engineer Officer's coloured field service cap. The coloured field service cap could only be purchased privately or on authorized funds. Officers caps usually had an embroidered bullion badge with gold or silver braid piping. Other ranks wore the gilt cap badge at a diagonal position with the flames
pointing to the rear. This example is constructed of a blue wool body, crown,
peak and flap with gold bullion piping, piping on the left back is a bit loose, see picture.
An embroidered bullion cap badge is attached to the left side that depicts a seven flamed flaming bomb with "Ubique" upon a scroll to the bottom. To the front are two brass Royal Engineers buttons.
The interior is lined in a black material. The wool shows normal traces of wear.
